Sometimes you need a gimmick to get noticed, and Virginia O’Brien sure found one. Her deadpan monotone delivery got her a contract with MGM, and she went on to appear in several big musicals through the 40s, including Panama Hattie (1942), Thousands Cheer (1943), Ziegfeld Follies (1945), Till the Clouds Roll (1946) and many more.
